We’re officially sliding into full swing holiday vibes, which means the cold will only get colder. That could mean problems for your beautiful locks. Add to that the flurry of a fully booked social calendar, and you might be heading to some hair emergencies.
Don’t let the holiday rush dull your hair shine. Here are 9 tips to get gorgeous holiday hair:
1. Get cozy warm, not hot
Winter is the time to turn up the heater but make sure to not get it too high that might give your hair a temperature shock. Too hot temperatures can cause scalp irritations and skin. To combat this, you can use a humidifier to help increase the moisture in your home. Don’t forget to drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated, too.
2. Avoid hot showers (if you can help it)
Getting a steaming shower on an extremely snowy day is incredibly tempting. But doingthat may dehydrate your hair and skin. Take warm showers instead of hot tostill get cozy without doing damage to your hair and scalp.
3. Wash your hair less
Many studies support the idea of shampooing less to keep your hair from drying out. Washing your hair too often or too much during the cold season will strip it ofthe moisture it needs to stay healthy. Also, never step out with wet or damp hair when it’s snowing as that may cause your hair to freeze and break off!
4. Prioritize deep conditioning
Deep conditioning is your best friend for the winter. Deep conditioning adds moisture to your hair to keep it shining and full of life for the holidays.
5. Use natural oils
The cold tends to dry out your scalp, making you vulnerable to problems like hair fall and dandruff. Keep your scalp moisturized by using natural oils such as olive or coconut. Massage the natural oils into your scalp and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse it out with your favorite shampoo and conditioner. Do this every wash day to promote healthy hair growth.
6. Get a trim
Cold weather can cause split ends. Get regular trims to keep your hair in excellent state and prevent split ends from forming.
7. Observe the correct hair drying routines
Blow drying is a speedy way to dry your hair, but make sure to do it properly and whileusing a hair protectant. Air drying is still your best bet.
8. Eat a healthy diet, even if it’s Christmas
While it’s mouthwatering to just indulge
9. Add satin-lined hats into your #OOTDs
