Summer is almost too hot a season to commit to any kind of workout.
For days when you dread braving the sweltering heat just to drive to the gym, you can do your own summer backyard workout instead!
Don’t have a backyard? No problem! You can still workout indoors! Turn on the air conditioner, blast your favorite workout tunes, and get your sweat session going.
Here are 6 quick and easy summer workouts you can do anywhere:
1. Alternating reverse lunges
Put your feet together and then take a large step back with one leg. Drop your hips until your front leg forms a 90-degree angle. Hold this pose for a few seconds and then bring back your leg to the starting position. Repeat alternately on both legs to complete a set of 15 reverse lunges.
2. Wide push-ups
Hold your arms straight and wide at your sides, making sure your legs and back are aligned. Lower your chest and bend your elbows slowly, inhaling as you push down, and exhale as you push up.
3. Narrow push-ups
Starting in a plank position, place your hands at shoulder-width distance apart, and slowly lower your body. Make sure to press your elbows to the side of your body as you do this.
4. Burpees
A burpee is a series of movements. First, begin in a standing position. Then jump up, and land in a squat position, your hands on the ground. Kick your feet back so that you land in a plank with your arms extended. Then get up on your feet in a squat position and stand back up.
5. Mountain climbers
Start in a push-up position, extend your arms, and straighten your body so that your head and ankles align. Pull your right knee towards your chest, switch, and pull your other knee in the same motion. Continue alternating and pick up the pace as you feel comfortable.
