We are already well into the second week of October and your Halloween plans are still in the dark. If you think there is such a thing as getting ready for Halloween too early, then don’t go crying when your fabric store ran out of red velvet or if all the craft stores are all out of black board paper.
As with any other festivity, while it’s fun, Halloween could cause even the toughest women some unnecessary stress resulting in lack of sleep and productivity, especially if you bring the entire family into the picture.
If you haven’t decided yet what you and the kids will be dressing up as, then you might end up just getting tricks and no treats. But if you start now, you might just save yourself a huge amount of last-minute pre-Halloween stress and frenzy.
Here are some DIY Halloween costume ideas to help you have the whole family be Halloween ready early. Make sure to click on the links below the photos to see the tutorial for every costume idea!
- Circus Family
A fairly easy theme to pull off since you can use clothing you already own or buy ribbons and tulle from your local craft store to put the look together. Don’t forget about the details like a pretend barbell using balloons and a painted PVS pipe.
- Wizard of Oz
You can easily put together a Wizard of Oz family costume just by incorporating many clothing pieces you already have in your closet. You only need to add in classic details like the tin man’s hat using a metallic painted funnel or the scarecrow’s body using some straw.
- Sad Clowns
Scare away little Georgie by dressing up as a family of clowns. It could be as simple as slathering on white face paint and putting on red lipstick and a red nose. You won’t run out of makeup tutorials to achieve this look.
- Jurassic Park
Movies are a great place to draw inspiration from for Halloween costumes. Dress up as Doctors Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler from the classic Jurassic Park movie. You may want also want to throw on a baby dinosaur costume for your little tots to complete the look.
- Harry Potter
No Halloween will be complete without anyone you know dressing up as someone from the famous book and movie series, Harry Potter. Dress up the kids as wizards and witches with some simple black robes and ties to coordinate with their House. You and Daddy can dress up as your favorite Hogwarts professors such as Snape and Professor McGonagall, or make it spookier by picking one of the bad guys from Voldemort’s camp.
We hope this got your creative juices flowing and start getting ready for Halloween early.
